We need to upgrade the interoffice LAN. It¡¯s moving too slow.
I networked my computers at home so now I have my own LAN. It¡¯s great.
Our computers can all share information through the LAN that I set up at home.
LANs have 4 parts; servers, workstations, network operating systems, and communications links. A server holds information that all the computers on the network can share. A workstation is a computer that you use to look at the information on the server. The network operating system (we learned operating system, right) controls the software. Some examples include NetWare, UNIX, Windows NT, etc. Finally there are communication links, which usually physically connect the computers, although sometimes they are connected through radio communication too. If you¡¯re not tech savvy, all you really need to remember is that a LAN is a group of computers that are connected so they can share information.
